Basic Java Chat

The Basic Java Chat is included free of charge in most of our web hosting plans.

Your web control panel makes setting up new chat rooms a simple procedure (Web Control --> Extras --> Chat Services). Simply select the directory you want to place your chat in (!! This directory must already exist in your account !!), and -> read on below ...

1. Name the chat file, i.e., music.html.
2. The location of the chat file is relative to your www directory. For example, if you wanted the URL to be http://yourdomain.com/chat/music.html, you would put /chat in the next field. Make sure to put the "/".
   Note: This directory must already exist in your account !!
3. Java chat can be English only, Volano can be a language other than English.

You may create as many as 25 chat rooms. These rooms are capable of upto 20 users at one time.

You can not customize the chat, so please leave all the tags alone that have to do with <APPLET>.

Advanced Volano Java Chat

We provide the Volano Java Chat program for use on your domain. Extra charges apply for use of this feature. See our fee schedule for pricing. If you have applied for the Volano Java Chat, and if the chat was released by us for your domain. You can install the chat from your web control panel.

3. The language for the Volano Chat can be English, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean,  French, Chinese or German

You may create as many as 25 chat rooms. These rooms are capable of upto 20 users at one time.

NOTE:
1) It will take up to 24 hours before the actual rooms have been activated in the chat servers referrer file. Until then you will get an error message if you try to access a chat room.
2) You will not be able to call volano chat rooms through any parked domains, you will need to use the main domain in the URL.

The chat page can be customized, but leave all the tags alone that have to do with <APPLET> unless you know what you are doing. With the tags within the applet code the chat can be fully customized. It's possible to assign a name for the chat room, change the colors and fonts and even a password protection is possible. If this is still not enough you can add many additional parameters. The VolanoChat applet has 165 properties you can modify. See here for a complete list: http://www.volano.com/guide21/english.html (Please note, that you don't have access to the properties file, but you can add the parameters directly to your applet code.)
Example: We have added on our demo page the following parameter to the applet code:
<param name="text.button.message" value="Click the button to chat!">
(you can view the code by looking at the source code of the html page)

There is no web interface for the applet customization, you have to adjust this with notepad or your favorite html editor.
